Elena’s the only one who gets Damon, the only one who believes in him. She may fight with him, she may contest his methods and some of his actions but still, she’s the one who sees the good in him. The one who didn’t believe for a second in his “pretending to be just a monster”. The one who saw behind his gestures and understood why he did what he did. The one who really knows him and is sure he would drop everything for the people he loves. The one who constantly believes in him despite what other people think or say to her. Even during bad times between them she still sees something in him, something that other people don’t want to see or just don’t see at all. It was never easy. They hurt each other a lot.
